Army Senior Accountant

Location: Indianapolis, IN

We are looking for an Army Senior Accountant to join our team to support the USAFMCOM; Army Accounting and Audit Operations (A3O).

The Army Senior Accountant will provide subject matter expertise in GAAP, GAGAS, FAM, FASAB, TFM, and DoD/Army FM policies, processes, and systems, as well as expert knowledge/understanding of Army and DOD systems such as STANFINS, GFEBS-SA, and ADVANA.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Developing and implementing internal controls to support accurate financial statement reporting.
  • Providing strategy and recommendations to remediate deficiencies identified in Army internal and external audits related to Secure Financials.
  • Recommending new business processes or controls needed to achieve financial statement assertions.
  • Monitoring financial reporting controls and validating corrective actions.
  • Communicating and coordinating change management initiatives within the Sensitive Activity Army community.
  • Providing audit liaison services related to sensitive activities covered by the financial statement audit.
  • Developing and/or executing reconciliations and conducting variance analysis of accounting, entitlement, or other data.
  • Delivering and sustaining monthly and quarterly capabilities for researching and corroborating buyer-side and seller-side intragovernmental transaction (IGT) details for relevant legacy and non-legacy accounting system general ledger balances.
  • Providing detailed analysis and guidance for operational accounting issues and developing monitoring mechanisms to gauge progress.
  • Reviewing and creating files, documents, and materials supporting Army Wide Capability Protection (AWCP) initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

At a minimum you should have:

  • An active SECRET security clearance and the ability to maintain the clearance.
  • Ability to pass a T5 investigation and maintain good standing in Continuous Evaluation.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in accounting and auditing.
  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory/lead position.
  • A CPA license as well as audit and audit remediation experience.
  • Good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and applicable state boards.
  • Expert knowledge, understanding of, and experience with GAAP, GAGAS, FAM, FASAB, TFM, and DoD/Army FM policies.
  • Experience performing independent financial statement audits, advising clients on remediating internal controls and/or data deficiencies and gaps.
  • Experience providing accounting and audit support within the DoD/Army, experience working with and reporting to DoD government leadership, and familiarity with DoD financial management systems such as STANFINS, GFEBS, and ADVANA.

Estimated Salary Range:

  • Senior: $125,000 - $150,000

The provided salary range serves as a broad reference. However, Intrepid takes various factors into account when establishing base salary offers, including the position's scope and responsibilities, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and prevailing market conditions.
